Hon consultant physician Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, formerly visiting Professor of Medicine, Cranfield University and Consultant to various companies including Shell, Unilever, Scientific Hospital Supplies, Nutricia and Marlow.
Professor Hunter’s first year of medical qualification was in 1965 he qualified from Caius College Cambridge & St Mary’s Hospital London and has been Consultant Physician at Addenbrooke’s since 1975.
Professor Hunter has particular expertise in the management of intestinal disorders. He is the author of many books for patients with these conditions including– Solve your Food Intolerance, (5th edition 2005) and Irritable Bowel Solutions (2007) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (2010) all published by Vermilion (Ebury Press) London. He also has a website: www.crohns.org.uk. He has published over 200 scientific articles and currently leads an active research team running studies of the gut microflora at Addenbrooke’s hospital in a consortium of Cranfield, Surrey, Birmingham universities and the Open University.
Special clinical interests are Inflammatory Bowel disease, Irritable bowel syndrome, Intestinal and gastric disorders and Nutrition
Research interests are Inflammatory Bowel disease, Nutrition (including food intolerance) Bacteriology of the gut and Metabolism of the colonic microbiota
